RESEARCH IS THE KEY
Finding the best college for you to train, takes a lot of research.
So says Julie Beaumont, who started at a college and was very disappointed.
"Living in West Yorkshire, in the U.K. it was a big decision for my husband and 16 year old son to move to Australia," said Julie.
HOLIDAYS IN AUSTRALIA
"We had been 3 times for holidays and we were sure we wanted to go."
AGENT
"I found an agent and he arranged the Student Visa, and he chose a college for me to go to in Melbourne. We live in the beautiful outer suburb of Berwick and we love it.
However, after training in hairdressing for 8 months, I had only practiced one haircut on one client and I was worried.
I wanted to train with Australians too, but I only met one.
I was afraid I wasn’t going to become good enough, with salon experience, so I left the College."
RESEARCH
"I visited two other colleges I found on the internet and chose ‘The Academy’, firstly for its pure size. It is huge, with so many students and we are in the salon, gaining experience half a day every day."
GOOD FEELING
"I also had a good feeling about it after discussions about the course with the Student Co-ordinator."
CERTIFICATE III IN HAIRDRESSING
"I’m doing Certificate III over 2 years and I’ve made lots of friends.
I especially love men’s cutting and I’ve started colouring. The study is easy and I can read through my modules travelling home on the train."
CHOOSING THE BEST
"If I had visited the college when I came here for the holidays, I would have chosen ‘The Academy’ first so anyone thinking of doing hairdressing, if you have the opportunity of holidaying first, I’d say, the research would be worth while."
